It is said, that walking (no golf cart) an 18 hole round of golf is about the equivalent of 10,000 steps or 5 miles. Mechanics of a Golf Swing and the Muscles used

In addition to the calories burned, many of the movements in golf involve a greater or different range of motion for the hips, knees, shoulders and arms than normal daily activities. It’s a good idea for golfers to stretch those areas prior to taking that first swing. Regular play with stretching and doing exercises that improve the golf game logically leads to improved overall fitness, enhanced balance and stability and better cardiovascular health for most.

Golf can benefit your brain health also. Exercise in general, increases the amount of oxygen that is delivered to the brain and it improves neural pathway connections. It is believed that improved circulation to the brain helps prevent Alzheimer’s disease. And we all want to prevent that for sure. For the maximum mental health benefit, try not to be the player that plays so competitively or self-consciously that they stay in a high level of stress and anxiety or creates it in their golf group.
